Good Morning BIA Folks,
We're halfway through April and are so looking forward to the warm summer months. We have a number of activations planned. Here is an overview in chronological order (including Taste in Aug.).
May
- Once again CafeTO patios will be installed on the Danforth section of our BIA including our two BIA parkettes.
- The city is aiming to have the installations done by the May long weekend (hopefully).
June
BD Beats:
- Our annual BD Beats outdoor summer music series is returning.
- Live bands will be playing in our CafeTO parkettes on Thursday and Friday nights from 6pm to 9pm and Sunday afternoons in the Carrot Common courtyard from 1pm to 4pm.
FIFA Community Celebration:
- To mark the opening of the FIFA World Cup in Toronto we will host a BIA Community Celebration on Friday, June 12 and Saturday June 13.
- A free viewing party will take place on Friday, June 12. This is the first match in Toronto, featuring Team Canada vs Bosnia. This viewing party will take place in the Green P lot located at Danforth and Playter.
- Saturday, June 13 will include bands, a Treasure Trove hunt, the launch of a Support Local Contest (which will run through July 2, the end of the FIFA matches in Toronto), face painters, balloon twisters etc.
- We will also have bands playing in our CafeTO parkettes on each FIFA Toronto match day, from June 12 through July 2.
August
Taste of the Danforth
- Taste will return the weekend of August 7, 8, 9 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- Greektown BIA will drop off registration packages towards the end of April.
- The registration fees are: Food Service businesses: $1,000; Retail businesses: $200.
It is shaping up to be a busy and fun summer in our BIA!
