NEED YOUR HELP: Urgent: Council to Vote on New CEBA Repayment Deadline Extension Motion this Week

Good Afternoon Broadview Danforth BIA Members,

Below is an email from Councillor Fletcher.  She is asking for your help - to lend your support for her motion going to City Council later this week requesting the Federal gov't extend the CEBA repayment plan.  Please read the email below and follow the steps listed in order to submit your support.

Thank you for taking the time to do this - I know you're all swamped right now but your voice on this is important.

Thanks,
Susan

Dear Ward 14 BIAs and TABIA,

As you know, the federal government has refused to meaningfully extend the CEBA repayment deadline. That's why I will be moving a new motion this week calling on City Council to officially request the federal government extend the repayment deadline to December 31st, 2024.

These calls have been echoed by all provincial and territorial premiers, TABIA and BIAs, including, most recently, the Broadview Danforth BIA in our ward. City Council also made this request as a result of my May 2023 motion.

With time running out the federal government needs to hear loud and clear that they need to act.

I need your help again. Can your BIA and BIA board members please send a message of support for this motion to City Council? Please also share this with any of your members who may want to take action.

I have included sample wording below for your message of support - feel free to write your own.

It only takes moments to send a message. Follow these quick, simple steps:

  1. Open the following link to the city's webpage for motion MM13.6: https://secure.toronto.ca/council/agenda-item.do?item=2023.MM13.6
  2. Select the blue Submit Comments button near the top of the page
  3. Add in your message and send your email

If you have trouble with the above you can also send a direct email to  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  to express your support. Be sure to put "MM13.6 - Last Chance to Help Small Businesses" in the subject line.

I also encourage you to send a message to your federal MP calling for the CEBA repayment deadline to be extended.

You can email Toronto-Danforth's MP  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  or you can find your MP and their contact info at ourcommons.ca/members.

Working for you,
