Saturday July 19, 2014 is the date for the Danforth BIA's fifth annual Thrill of the Grill BBQ event. Six of the Danforth's fabulous chefs compete to see who's ribs reign supreme! This year we will be cheering on the following competitors: Allen's, Globe Bistro, The Combine Eatery, Das Gasthaus, Factory Girl and The Meat Department. There is also a charitable component to this event - we will once again be supporting Kidney Cancer research at Sunnybrook's Odette Center.
This year is significant because it includes a Pan Am Games community participation component that will be located on the Danforth between Broadview and Ellerbeck. This is a precursor to next year's Thrill which will be held on the Prince Edward Viaduct in conjunction with the lighting of the bridge and the first stop in the Pan Am torch relay.
Because of this it is very important that the Danforth display its enthusiasm and community spirit by participating in this year's event.
The Membership Committee will be contacting you shortly and regularly with planning updates that we hope will encourage your participation.
For now we would ask that you consider decorating your storefront and participating in our sidewalk sale event. Last year 1500 people came to the Danforth. We expect more this year and will be rolling out some ideas to encourage guests to visit your establishment and to linger on the Danforth after the event closes for the evening.
