Snowy Day News & Updates

What a weather day! I hope that everyone is managing okay. I have a few updates and information pieces to share with you.

Back Lane Ploughing:
In keeping with this weather please note that the City doesn't plough back laneways. The City will however salt back laneways. If your back laneway doesn't get salted please contact 311 and they will get someone out as soon as possible.

Broadview Danforth BIA Name & Logo Launch:
We're excited to let you know that City Council approved our BIA's name change to the Broadview Danforth BIA on Jan. 31st. We will be announcing the new name and our new logo this Thursday, February 14th on all of our social media outlets. We ran a teaser yesterday (Monday) and we will run another teaser tomorrow (Wednesday) and then make the big announcement on Valentine's Day. Attached please find the video that we will post with our social media and website announcements. If you wish to announce the change on your own social media please feel free to do so - we just ask that you wait until we post it on Thursday morning. I'm also attaching our new logo file should you wish to use it - again not until this Thursday. In addition, the City now has our new logo and will be working to update our street signs and garbage receptacles with the new name and design. We are producing electrostatic window decals which we will be dropping off to any interested businesses for installation on your front window in the next 10 days or so.

Sidewalk Cafes & Marketing Displays Bylaw & Fee Update:
Many of you will remember that about a year ago the City was looking at substantially raising the permit fees for sidewalk patios; and, increasing the regulations around permits, sidewalk clearances etc. There was tremendous push-back by business owners and BIAs. The City has released an update on these issues - please find the full report attached. Fees have been reduced; clearances have been maintained; new cafe opportunities are being offered. Page 17 of the report provides a summary. For those members impacted by these issues I encourage you to take the time to read through the full report. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via email.
