Allowing Ontario’s small retailers to safely stay open

Good Evening All,

The CFIB (Canadian Federation of Independent Business) has created a petition urging the Premier to make amendments to the current lock-down situation - please see the information below.  There is also a link that will take you to the petition if you wish to sign your name.

Thanks,
Susan

Save our small businesses

Sign the petition today!

With the crucial holiday season upon us, we know the province’s new restrictions and lockdowns in Toronto and Peel are causing incredible harm to small retailers while pushing customers to line-up at big box stores. After huge investments by small retailers in protecting consumer safety, this is both unfair and bad COVID policy. And all Ontario retailers should be concerned as these policies may spread across the province.

That’s why we’ve launched a new campaign, urging Premier Ford to adopt CFIB’s Small Business First retail strategy. There is a petition online, and if you pick up today’s Toronto Star, you’ll see a full-page ad encouraging everyone to add their names and support small business.

Tell the Premier: Save Small Business!

It is deeply unfair that Walmart and Costco can sell non-essential products in lockdown areas, but small independent businesses can’t. Our plan calls for allowing retailers to open to a safe, limited number of in-store customers to help them get through the holidays. Alberta just adopted a measure that would allow all retailers to continue to serve customers with a 25% capacity restraint.

Please, sign our petition and share it with your customers, friends and family to take the message right to Premier Ford: big box stores shouldn’t get an unfair advantage. Small, independent businesses should be allowed to open too!

Tell the Premier: Save Small Business!

Thank you for your continued support,
