Need you to sign up for this Friday's media event

Hi All,

I'm following up on my message from yesterday re: taking a stand for small business.  Thanks so much to those of you who have already said you'd stand in front of your business this Friday at noon.

All BIAs in the city are asking their members to do this,  We are pushing the government to Think Outside The Box on how they manage the current lockdown and any future lockdowns.

We met with Minister Sarkaria (Provincial Minister for Small Business and Red Tape) this afternoon and urged him to speak with Dr. Williams and the Health Table about allowing modified, by appointment openings for our small businesses.

This campaign on Friday is designed to push this message but EACH of YOU need to help.

I'm asking you to bundle up, wear your mask, stand in front of your business and make a sign per the information below.  We will also have a template sign design that we can provide to you if that's easier.  But we NEED you to stand up for your business. If you are willing to do this could you please email me and let me know that you're in and will take a stand - literally.

Here's the info again:

Small Businesses to Take A Stand - Literally

#Thinkoutsidethebigbox
We are proposing that all small business owners (retailers, restaurants, salons, dance studios etc) in the City take a stand this coming Friday, December 11th at noon

We are asking business owners to stand outside their business with a sign that says any or allof the following:
  • I've been in business for x years
  • I employ x number of people
  • Shop Local
  • You can add something else if you like
We are asking that you each agree to make a sign, stand in front of your business from noon to to 12:30pm this Friday.

We will push this out to all of our media contacts and we will take photos that we can all use on our social media platforms.

The visual impact of this is extremely strong and one that can't be easily ignored by our government officials and the general public.  It is also a strong back-up to the items that we're pushing for with Mayor Tory and Minister Sarkaria.

Thanks,
Susan
