Celebrate soccer, music, and community on the Danforth with The World Within Our Neighbourhood — a free summer event bringing people together through the joy of the beautiful game. Join the Broadview Danforth BIA on June 12 and 13 for outdoor match-day fun, live music, family-friendly activities, local performances, and a special viewing party for Canada’s opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The celebration continues through July 2 with musicians performing in CafeTO parkettes across the neighbourhood, representing cultures and countries from around the world. Come cheer, explore, dance, eat, shop, and experience the incredible mix of global sounds, local businesses, and community spirit that make Broadview Danforth feel like the world in one neighbourhood.

Tuesday Things - A Variety of Topics

Good Afternoon All,

As the subject line indicates I've got a few things to share with you today.

We had CityTV in the hood yesterday doing a piece on how the first weekend of Step 3 went.  Vito Marinuzzi, the owner of 7 Numbers was available to do the interview.  Here is the link:

Buy Toronto Time Campaign:
Once again thanks to all members who participated in this campaign and who have your Buy Toronto Time posters displayed.  This campaign is continuing.  Even though we're progressing and have seen restrictions being lifted, the concern to keep all of our businesses going is still a priority especially as rent and wage subsidy programs begin to decrease.

In addition to the poster, the Buy Toronto Campaign includes television and radio spots.  The tv spots were shot during the height of the recent lockdown and I'd like to thank The Danforth Music Hall and Mike's Music for opening their doors so the crew could get the shots needed and so that our Broadview Danforth BIA was represented in the tv commercials.  TV networks and radio stations have been very generous in donating prime airtime for these spots. Here is a link to the tv spot for those of you who haven't seen it yet.

Federal Funding Program Recently Announced:
Our MP Julie Dabrusin has provided the following information on a couple of new funding programs.  The Jobs and Growth Fund may be of particular interest to some of you - please take some time to review.
  1. The new Jobs and Growth Fund will provide funding to businesses and organizations to create jobs and position local economies for long-term growth. The Fund will be delivered locally by FedDev Ontario. The fund will invest $700 million nationally over three years, including up to $70 million dedicated to businesses created after January 2020 that meet eligibility criteria. You can learn more about the new fund here: https://www.feddevontario.gc.ca/eic/site/723.nsf/eng/h_02654.html?OpenDocument
  1. The federal government announced an $18million investment over 3 years in various City of Toronto initiatives, including CafeTO and the Main Street Innovation Fund. You can read more about this announcement here.

For the full list of federal programs available to businesses and organizations through FedDev Ontario, visit their main site HERE.

Thanks,

Susan
