Reminder: Proof of Vaccine starts tomorrow (Sept. 22/21)

Good Morning All,

First I would like to send our congratulations out to our Federal MP, Julie Dabrusin, on winning her seat in our Toronto Danforth riding last night (included in the bcc line of this email).  We look forward to continuing to work with you, Julie, on the economic recovery of our businesses as we see our way through to the other side of this pandemic.

Moving on to tomorrow's start of the new Vaccine Proof regulation.  Some of you have had more questions so I've once again attached the Province's Guidance document which outlines all of the things that need to be done.

Specifically:
  • The Vaccine Certification Process - please see pages 6, 7, 8
  • Proving Identity - please see pages 8 & 9: Photo ID is not required but the ID shown MUST have the name of the person and their date of birth and these must match what is shown on their vaccine form.  As long as the ID has the person's name and date of birth it can be accepted.  If it doesn't then it can't be accepted.
  • Medical Exemption Proof - please see page 6: full details of what you need to look for are included here.
  • Legitimate Proof - page 9: it states that it is up to the person to provide legitimate proof - if all of the documents are provided and the names and dates of birth match up then that's the best you can do. The Province hasn't provided any guidelines pertaining to false documents.
Again, I know how onerous this whole process is going to be both for the businesses who have to do the vaccine proofing and for the customers who have to have all of the proper documents available.  We need the Ford government to get that QR code done and issued as soon as possible.  To that end, we've invited our Provincial MPP Peter Tabuns (included in the bcc line of this email) to actually work in one of our restaurants this coming Friday night.  Peter will be manning the host desk at our 7 Numbers from 6pm to 7pm and he will be taking on the responsibility of doing the Vaccine Certification for patrons wishing to dine indoors.  When the Provincial House returns on Oct. 4th Peter will be able to speak on behalf of businesses by relaying his hands-on experience and pushing the Ford government to speed up the Vaccine QR code.

I hope that the information above provides further clarification on this whole process but, as always, if you need anything further please just send me an email.

Thanks,
Susan
