Good Afternoon All, This is a rare Sunday members' email - but I wanted to circulate the attached guidelines that I received yesterday afternoon from the City. This is a 6 page document on what restaurants, pubs and cafes need to do and get in place before they will be able to open. Please note: we are not yet able to open our restaurants but the City wants to make sure that you are fully prepared in advance so you're…

Good Afternoon All, As you know from the announcement last week, the City is quickly moving to implement the redesign of Danforth Avenue from Broadview to Dawes. The City has mailed a letter to each of you but snail mail being what it is, I've attached a copy of the letter to this email and I encourage you to please take a few minutes to read through it. Today your Board Chair, Albert Stortchak, and I joined staff from Councillor…

Good Morning All, First, thank you to everyone who took the time to complete our most recent survey. I know it's probably the last thing you want to do but.... the information that we get is invaluable in our efforts to pressure the government to make amendments to existing financial aid programs and to enact a freeze on commercial evictions. This time our survey went out not just to businesses and landlords in Toronto but also to those in Ottawa…

Good Afternoon All, I have a few things this afternoon to pass along: 1. Property Tax Deferral - City announces a new system: The City understands some residents and businesses may be experiencing financial hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Property owners will be able to request additional time to pay their taxes without incurring late payment penalties or interest charges for a six month period effective June 1 to November 30, 2020. The additional time given to pay your…

Good Morning All, I hope that everyone had a good weekend. Today is the start of week 12 of the shutdown and it is June 1st - rent day. I hope that all of our members (tenants and landlords) have been able to discuss and come to agreements regarding this month's rent payments. With the opening of the CECRA program we've been asked to conduct a third survey to get your feedback on this program and the other programs available…

Good Afternoon All, I have a few things to cover today: 1. Provincial Emergency Orders Extended Premier Ford has extended the Emergency Orders to Tuesday, June 9/20. The existing orders were to have expired this coming Friday. This means that restrictions are still in place in terms of no more than 5 people in public gatherings; restaurants/pubs, salons, spas etc. are still closed. 2. City's Active TO Program and impact on the Danforth As I reported in my Monday update,…
