Time Sensitive Request to BIA Members

Good Afternoon BIA Members,

Our Councillor Paula Fletcher is asking for your input and comments regarding the City's proposed increased parking ticket fines.  This is a time sensitive issue so I encourage you to submit your comments in the next day or so.  Below is her message and request to each of you:

City Council to Debate Increased Parking Ticket Fines by 150%

City Council will consider a proposal next week to substantially increase parking violation fines.

The proposal to raise the fine for parking in a paid on-street parking spot without a valid ticket from $30 to $75 - a 150% increase - which may seriously impact your BIA members and their customers.

I am not aware of any consultations with businesses or BIAs on the impact this increase might have on your members and their customers.

I will try to defer this item at City Council next week to allow for proper consultation with our main street businesses. But I will need your support to be successful.

Businesses can tell City Council to defer the proposed increases and fully consult local businesses, BIAs and other impacted stakeholders.

Visit https://secure.toronto.ca/council/agenda-item.do?item=2024.IE11.2 and click ‘Submit Comments’ to send your email to City Council.

Be sure to copy me  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  (and your local Councillor if you live outside the ward).
