Celebrate soccer, music, and community on the Danforth with The World Within Our Neighbourhood — a free summer event bringing people together through the joy of the beautiful game. Join the Broadview Danforth BIA on June 12 and 13 for outdoor match-day fun, live music, family-friendly activities, local performances, and a special viewing party for Canada’s opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The celebration continues through July 2 with musicians performing in CafeTO parkettes across the neighbourhood, representing cultures and countries from around the world. Come cheer, explore, dance, eat, shop, and experience the incredible mix of global sounds, local businesses, and community spirit that make Broadview Danforth feel like the world in one neighbourhood.

Events, Events, Events!

Good Morning All,

Yes it's that time of year - event season.  The following will provide updates and information on what's ahead.

Taste Registration Forms:
If you are planning to register for Taste and haven't submitted your forms and payments please do so by the end of this week.  You need to drop off your forms and cheque at the Greektown BIA office, 452A Danforth Ave.  Please note that they have a security system at their office so you need to ring the bell and they will let you in.  If no one is there at the time you can leave your envelop in their mailbox.  If you need assistance please contact Mary directly at 416-469-5634.

Thrill of the Grill, Saturday, June 22, 6pm to 10pm:
We are celebrating our 10th Anniversary this year!  It's hard to believe - when we started this event it was held in the parking lot of the old Albany Clinic (now the LCBO).  Over the years Thrill has grown in scope and reputation and we now host 2,000 people in 4 hours.

This year we've moved the event to a 6pm start which means that we will not be closing the Danforth until 3pm on Sat. June 22 - giving businesses the better part of the day without disruption.  The BBQs will start to be set-up in front of the participating grill businesses at 2pm but these set-ups are not on the road.  June 22 is a week later than last year but gives us a couple of weeks before we need to organize the memorials for the July 22nd 1st anniversary of the shooting.

Thank you to our businesses who have signed up as sponsors and grill participants.  Attached is our Thrill poster for this year and our website is www.ThrillOfTheGrill.ca  We will once again be selling our Thrill Gift Bags - if any of our members would like to contribute to the gift bags we would love to hear from you.  We create 200 bags and the proceeds from the sale go to the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook.  If 200 is too much for you no worries, we would be happy to include whatever number of pieces you can offer.

Danforth Strong Community Yard Sale, Saturday, June 22, 8am to 3pm:
One of our local residents has taken the lead in organizing an area yard sale for Saturday, June 22nd.  Every household who signs up to participate in this yard sale agrees to donate a portion of their proceeds to the charity of choice for the families of the shooting - Trigger Change.  For further information on this event please visit their website: www.danforthcommunitysale.com
A few of us from the Thrill Committee have donated our time over the past several weeks to help the area residents with their communications and marketing efforts.  If you live in the area and are interested in participating please feel free to check out the registration information on their website.

Danforth Shooting 1st Anniversary Memorial Events:
We are currently working with Councillor Fletcher, the City's Protocol Office and Greektown BIA on the events marking this anniversary.  I will provide further updates and details as they become available.

Thanks,
Susan
